Plan a trip to our Scenic Byway for a living history activity that you're
sure to remember! Three days of fun and excitement, experiencing life as
the pioneers did are planned in the El Corazon De Trinidad National Historic
District. The annual event is sponsored by the Trinidad/ Las Animas County
Chamber of Commerce. Festivals accommodate more than 100 vendors with booths
from Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, and from as far away as Alabama.
The Santa Fe Trail Scenic and Historic Byway had a fun and games booth, buckets of prizes, and barrels of fun for everyone. Trinidad Historical Society helped us look good by darning period costumes from a variety of cultures and answered questions from the curious about our Scenic and Historic Byway. Stop by the booth next year to have some old fashioned fun at the Byway Booth! Prizes ranged from essential SFT paraphanellia like sun visors and hats or feather boas and water cantinas. Trips to Koshare Indian Kiva Dances, and Comanche National Grassland were given away and the lucky winners plan to take their trip very soon. Visitors were encouraged to travel the Santa Fe Trail and explore one of our 45 sites of interest along the Santa Fe Trail Scenic and Historic Byway- Mountain Branch.

The Chili Cook Off brags of some of the most mouth watering Chili in
the Southwest. Splendidly costumed re-enactors provide cultural entertainment
throughout the day, giving you the feeling that you actually went back in
time.
Chuck wagons, chili cook offs, petting zoos, car & bike show, super slides, carnival games, duck race, river walk tours, and living history activities to keep you busy for this fun filled three day affair. Every year just gets bigger and better!

Continuous music throughout the 3-day festival is provided.
The Koshare Indian dancers provide entertainment with ceremonial street
dances. A dazzling display of colorful costuming and skill in dancing delight
festival go'ers. The crowd joined in several dances and the energy was fantastic.
